Lexar High-Speed Mobile microSDHC Solution Wins 2009 Mobile Star Award(TM) Mobile Solution Enables Users to Capture Photos, Videos, and Music and Manage Content Between Mobile Devices and Computers (January 20, 2010)

DMN Newswire--2010-1-20-- Lexar Media, a leading global provider of memory products for digital media, is pleased to announce that its Lexar(R) High-Speed Mobile microSDHC(TM) card solution has been named a winner in the eighth annual Mobile Star Awards(TM) program, hosted by mobile technology news portal MobileVillage.com.

Lexar was recognized as a "Shining Star" in the "Hardware: Portable Storage" category. All categories and winners are listed on MobileVillage.com at www.mobilevillage.com/awards.htm. The Lexar High-Speed Mobile microSDHC card allows mobile users to store, transfer, and manage superior-quality HD (High-Definition) and near-HD video and photos supported by today"s high-performance camera phones. This high-speed (Class 6) microSDHC card is part of a high-performance kit that includes a Lexar USB card reader that enables fast transfer of files between phones and computers, and sideload software to easily transfer and manage personal videos, music, and photos between devices. The software also enables users to share their photos and videos on the most popular social media websites. The Lexar High-Speed Mobile microSDHC card is available in 8GB and 16GB capacities.

As in past years, the Mobile Star Awards program showcases "best of" entries in dozens of categories including mobile apps, enterprise mobile software, wireless network products, enterprise success stories, mobile industry visionaries, and more.

Winners were chosen by subscribers of MobileVillage"s "Go Mobile(TM)" - a free e-newsletter that delivers headlines and links from top mobile technology stories on popular websites such as CNET, Engadget, Gizmodo, PC Magazine, Computerworld, AppScout, and others. "Go Mobile" was launched nearly ten years ago and is now published every three weeks for thousands of readers.

"Because "Go Mobile" readers are the industry's most savvy mobile business users, Mobile Star Awards winners can claim they are the users" choice," says Jon Covington, MobileVillage founder and president. "Winners are chosen by real users based on real results, not hype. Brand new mobile services competed on equal footing with well-established solutions, and both the nominees and winners are respected in the mobile industry as the new leaders to watch."

"A recent study by Parks Associates found that 89 percent of adults and more than 95 percent of teenagers take pictures on their mobile phones, and many of them are recording video, as well," said Greg Agustin, senior product manager, Lexar Media. "The Lexar High-Speed Mobile microSDHC solution is designed to make managing content more streamlined, thus improving the mobile experience for users, and we"re honored that the readers of the "Go Mobile" newsletter see how our solution can improve their mobile lifestyle."

In addition to MobileVillage, the sponsors for the 2009 Mobile Star Awards were Clickatell, Funambol, MobileFrame, Nadel Phelan, OnPoint Digital, and Syclo.

Content Insider #148 - The iGen
NO...Doesn't have a thing to do with "that" smartphone...or "that" store...or "that" tablet. It's the next generation. Kids and we mean little kids. That's what today's products are being designed for/targeted at. You happen to buy one...fine. Watch a little, little kid pick up a smartphone. He/she just uses it. They've come pre-wired and we're still trying to figure out how to IM. It's the IGen. They want it instantly. They want to use it instantly. They expect their photos, their video, their music, their stuff immediately when/where/how they want it. Read More

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
